I am a survivor of Domestic Violence. I don’t talk of it often but the experience was one of the darkest moments of my life. During the healing process, I realized that domestic violence in the African American community is not something that is acknowledged or discussed. In fact, it is to be hidden.
This is the last chapter. I hope you all have enjoyed my Summer Reading Fest. Don’t forget that I’ll blog next week about why I chose to include domestic violence and female genital mutilation in my paranormal romance. This is the last week to participate in the free drawing for Breaking Free so make sure you RT/Tweet, like my FB page, or sign-up for my subscriber’s list.
I’m hoping that you’re on the edge of your seat. Shania’s got that creepy priest after her baby, her memories are all messed up and Corbin’s about to go through an evil awakening. Do you agree that she should run? Finish Chapter Five of Flee.
OMG! I love having amazing writer buds! Over the last two weeks, I’ve received positive support from two ladies that I respect and admire. I can’t thank either one of them enough for taking the time to offer advice, wisdom, and share their genius. But they’ve done more by giving me some creds.
There has been lots of discussion about what’s going on in this short story. I have a a formal response to some of the questions that readers have been asking in regards to the brutal domestic violence as well as female genital mutilation in the story. Look for my upcoming blog response on July 30th along with the winners of Breaking Free.

At the end of this summer reading fest, I’ll write a blog post or two about the controversial issues in this short story. But for now, please take a look at Chapter Three. You’ll get the chance to meet her best friend, Maddy Lynh. Take a look.
