Iniko Novella Available as an e-book Summer Read

Iniko 300x200I’ve been working on my latest project. Iniko is a short novella about the bi-racial daughter of the West African goddess, Mawu.  This project has been intense and emotional but I believe that readers of the African elemental series will be excited.  There’s plenty of sword action and of course, controversial issues that relate to Africana women.  So far this series has tackled, domestic violence, female genital mutilation and now trokosi slave wives.

Guest Fest: Does Being Black Mean Writing Black? By Alicia Michaels

aliciamichaelsI will start this post by admitting to living in a bit of a bubble my entire life. I’m a small town girl from the suburbs with two loving parents and a little brother. The small town I lived in was situated right beside Fort Hood Army base, the largest military installation in the world. While my father got out of the army before I got to Kindergarten, the presence of the military was a strong force in my community. As such, I am accustomed to a multicultural mix of people living and working around me. It is not unusual for soldiers to come home from overseas with Korean or German wives and for biracial children to dominate schools.

Guest Fest: Carole McDonnell Discusses Polyamory in her Upcoming Novel

windfollower2In my upcoming novel, The Constant Tower, a character is suddenly faced with the possibilities of having two husbands. She thinks, “Yes, I can love them both. I am in their clan now. I can marry and love both of them.” Something like that.

Although I’m a Christian, I must admit that there are times when being a Christian is restrictive. I understand the restrictions, mind you. I even assent to them. But, yes, I also acknowledge that there would be a different path to follow if I was not indoctrinated in Christianity.
