Guest Fest: The Abandon, An All Black Male Sci‐Fi TV Series by Keith Josef Adkins

Abandon_TV_SeriesSo, here’s the deal:  I’m creating a sci-fi series called The Abandon.  On July 27, 2012 I’m shooting the pilot episode, which will follow the journeys of five black men after a global alien invasion.  Yes, I said five black men.  I know that’s revolutionary for television, but hey, I am committed to changing the game.  I’m particularly interested in changing the game when it comes to black representation and inclusiveness in sci-fi TV and film.

Guest Fest: Author Deana Zhollis Discusses Sexual Slavery in her Cinderella Fairy Tale

Deana_ZhollisI’m excited to introduce Deana Zhollis. I came across her book, the 9th Symbol, while perusing the Book of the Month on the Black Science Fiction Society. I was immediately taken-into her world and the interesting mixture of her fairy tale and alien domination. I enjoy stories that discuss freedom from sexual abuse.  Please check out her interview as well as her response to why she adds the theme of sexual slavery to her works.

Most People of Color Don’t Care for Science Fiction: Morris Chestnut talks about his role on the hit TV series “V”

OK, I’ve been trying real hard to not skee and scream whenever I see  Morris Chestnut on “V.” I’ve always had a little crush. LOL! Totally, a fan girl…

Last season ended on an incredible cliffhanger.  Is Ryan Nichols dead? Did they kill off Chestnut’s character?  It would be so cliche, if the black man dies when the series is taking off. One thing is for sure, Chestnut has acted his butt off during this last season of “V” and not many have noticed.  He’s done a great job of showing Ryan Nichols as a traitor but we still sympathize with him. I never sympathized with Robert Englund’s character.
