Thanks so much for having me, Alicia it is truly a pleasure to be here for Guest Fest!
Since this post is supposed to address paranormal and color, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to introduce one of the characters in my upcoming debut, CONJURE, the first book in The Hoodoo Apprentice series.
In CONJURE, Miss Delia Whitaker is a ninety-seven year old Gullah root worker who lives on St. Helena Island in the South Carolina low country. Miss Delia’s not just any conjurer, she’s the island’s premier hoodoo practitioner and wise woman. When my heroine, Emma Guthrie, her brother and their best friend unleash a wicked flesh-eating curse that threatens their lives, they turn to Miss Delia for help in learning the magic to break the hex.
Can you tell me a little about your background for my blog readers?
I have been a writer all of my life. I have written short stories, novels, news articles, every possible genre, but for some reason fantasy always pulls me back. I have had several fantasy stories published in small literary magazines. Interlopers: A Shifters Novel is my first book length work.
I was pleased to attend the authors’ discussion and book signing at Auburn Avenue Research library. This Alien Encounters topic was “Beyond Twilight and Harry Potter: Speculative Fiction for Young Adults of Color.” The dicussion was timely, interesting, and important. I’m sad that I missed the other sessions, I was knee deep in finishing Breaking Free. Sadness. But what I heard at this panel was awesome.
I’m so excited. I’ve been fast at work on my rewrites and deep edits for my novel Breaking Free. I’m also totally in love with the book cover from Graphic Designer Eithne Ni Anluain. She did a terrific job on XJ’s book cover. It’s exactly the image I had in mind. I absolutely love the […]
Some authors of Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal stories get race all wrong and the work that they produce is seen as racist. I’m one of those people, though, who hold back on the “R” word until I completely read the entire work. So, when a book came across my desk, I gave pause.
As a YA author, I love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s new series. I already loved reading Nick’s adult story and now I thoroughly enjoy learning more about his story as a teen. When I approached the series, I knew that it was going to be good. Sherrilyn Kenyon knows how to tell a great story. Can you tell I’m a fan girl? So here I was minding my own business when wham! She introduces me to the character of Menyara! I love this character but more importantly, Menyara has Sisterlocks!
I’m so excited about my decision to Indie publish with Heart Ally Books. I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to push my work to the next level and I’ve found it! I think Lisa Norman is absolutely fanatstic and I’ve enjoyed working with her on my website. I’m more than pleased to take the next step with her in launching my digital novel.
