Alicia McCalla Reads Dr. Seuss for Read Across America

Today make sure you celebrate reading with your children, grand children, great grand children, nieces and nephews. It's Dr. Seuss' birthday and all across the United States, libraries and schools are celebrating Read Across America. I usually don't mix my two worlds but today is special.
We must encourage children to read. They need to hear and see adults reading. It fosters a love for reading, an appreciation for the written word, and helps to foster imagination. As quirky as it may feel to read outloud, kids automatically connect with adults during the reading of their favorite stories. I do storytime most days. It usually lots of fun. I don't mind embarrassing myself in front of the little ones. Don't laugh. LOL! Make sure you read to the children in your life today or this weekend. Help encourage imagination!
