AMERICA'S VOICE IN THE DREAM: A CALL FOR MINDFUL ACTION

AMERICA'S VOICE IN THE DREAM: A CALL FOR MINDFUL ACTION

I wasn't planning to create spoken word poetry. That's not typically my lane - I write fiction, craft affirmations, narrate audiobooks. But sometimes, the most powerful creative moments come when we step outside our comfort zones.

In late January, as I scrolled through news that felt increasingly apocalyptic, I found myself frozen. My creative energy - my lifeline - was draining away. The constant barrage was making it impossible to focus, to write, to create.

Then came the news about the Black Hawk helicopter collision. My heart shattered learning that Ryan O'Hara - who had been in Marine ROTC with my son - was among those lost. This wasn't just another headline; this was personal. Another mother's son, gone.

As a Marine Corps veteran who has already endured the ultimate loss of my Navy officer son, I felt something inside me reaching a breaking point. That familiar survival mode was kicking in - the one where you shut down, tune out, just try to make it through.

But I knew that wasn't enough. Not for me. Not for us.

How This Spoken Word Piece Was Born

My wall came during meditation. Two hours of sitting with all of it - not to escape, but to face it fully. I wasn't looking for easy answers or temporary comfort. I was searching for that deep well of power that I know lives within all of us.

That's when it happened. A rhythm kept calling to me. Words started forming. I went to my studio, pressed record, and let it flow straight from my soul.

What emerged wasn't just words or music - it was a release. A declaration. A reminder that we don't have to be passive in the face of all this. We can ground ourselves in something deeper.

I cried after recording it. The emotion was raw, real. This piece - "America's Voice in the Dream" - isn't polished poetry. It's truth. My truth. And maybe yours too.

Why This Matters Now: Economic Action & Collective Strength

As we enter this period of economic action, with boycotts beginning February 28th, I wanted to share this piece as a reminder: Our power isn't in panic or withdrawal. It's in our ability to stay centered, clear-eyed, and connected to each other.

I never intended to release spoken word, but this wasn't really my choice - it was my soul's. If it speaks to you, I hope you'll listen on YouTube, Spotify, or iTunes. And I hope it helps you find your center, too.

Listen. Ground. Act.

We are stronger than this. [WATCH VIDEO][LINK]
