A Moment in My Creative Journey
Being featured in Shoutout Atlanta was a meaningful moment in my creative journey. At the time, I was deep in the work of building stories centered on Black women who survive, resist, and rise; often in worlds shaped by power, justice, and imagination.
The interview offered a chance to talk about the inspirations behind my writing, from the city of Atlanta itself to the quieter influences that shape how I tell stories.
How Atlanta Shapes My Stories
Atlanta is more than my home base, it’s a city layered with history, contradiction, creativity, and resilience. Those layers show up again and again in my fiction, especially in stories that explore justice outside of broken systems and women who refuse to stay silent.
In the interview, I also shared some of the everyday details that ground me such as my favorite local spots, creative rituals, and the small things that help me stay connected to the world beyond the page. Those details matter to me because my work isn’t created in isolation. It’s shaped by place, by community, and by lived experience.
From Early Themes to Expanding Storyworlds
Since this interview was published, my work has continued to evolve. Many of the themes I spoke about how power, courage, survival, and transformation have deepened into larger storyworlds and serialized fiction projects.
I’ve leaned more intentionally into vigilante justice narratives, mythic influences, and Black female protagonists who challenge systems rather than seek permission from them.

I keep this interview here as part of my archive and as a snapshot of an earlier chapter in my creative life. It reflects the foundation of my work and the values that continue to guide it today.
