Soul Eater Series Update: Going forward with a Summer Nanowrimo

Last November, I participated in Nanowrimo during the month of November. It was an amazing experience. I was able to complete the first draft of my Soul Eater novel.  What I figured out, though, was that this was more than one short novel.  After much thought, gnashing, and trepidation, I came to the conclusion that what I was really writing ended up being a 3-part serial or episodic novel.

This summer, I’ll be fast drafting books 2 and 3.  I have mixed feelings about all of this. I originally wanted a simple 50K novel that I could release this summer. Well, I actually am almost finished with book #1 but I’m not releasing it until the other two are completed.  I know, bummer.

It is my intention to write 3400 words for 30-days this summer until I am able to complete a full first draft of the final two episodes. Here’s the break down: 

• Abduction: Soul Eater Series (Book 1)
• Sankofa: Soul Eater Series (Book 2)
• Vengeance: Soul Eater Series (Book 3)

I can’t wait to finish the fast drafts and begin the editing process. I’m hoping to be able to release all three books before the end of this year. If you’d like to keep track of my word count for the summer, I’m using writertopia.
