Meet Abbi Glines

Abbi is a member of the YA Indie carnival. I’d like to thank Abbi for interviewing with me. Check out her interview:

1) Please tell me about yourself and your writing career.

When I’m being forced up a mountainside with a backpack weighing me down, terrified of meeting a bear around the next corner or when I’m being hauled out into choppy waters holding on for dear life afraid I’ll be pitched over at any moment, I wonder why, exactly, I married my crazy husband. Then again having an adventurous if somewhat insane spouse has been the best muse a writer could ask for. My debut novel, Breathe - a YA contemporary romance, was released May,17, 2011 by Wild Child Publishing and it’s thanks to one of those spur of the moment boat trips that sparked the idea for Breathe. I've been writing all my life but it wasn't until I tried my hand at YA fiction that I found my groove. Apparently I never really grew up, which may explain my marriage to a dare devil. I've recently signed the contract on my first YA paranormal titled Existence to be released this Christmas. On October 21, I will be releasing The Vincent Boys - an older YA romance with an edgier feel. It will be available in digital format on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.  If you want to find me then check Twitter first because I have a severe addiction to tweeting @abbiglines.   Facebook and Google +  are some of my other stomping grounds. I also blog regularly but rarely about anything life changing.

2) Why did you decided to write YA?

I spent many years writing articles for family and parenting magazines. Every time I thought I was ready to write a novel it fell flat. Then one summer some friends and I decided to read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares together. Instantly, I fell in love with the series. YA became an addiction. For two years, I read every YA book I could get my hands on. I literally stalked the teen section at my local library. So, when the idea for Breathe began swirling around in my head I decided, what the heck, I’d give it a shot.

3) Tell me a little about your current book.

Breathe blurb: Sadie White's summer job isn't going to be on the beach life-guarding or working at rental booths like most kids her age. With her single mother's increasing pregnancy and refusal to work, Sadie has to take over her mother's job as a domestic servant for one of the wealthy summer families on a nearby island.

When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie hadn't spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house she might have been normal enough to be excited about working for a rock star.

Even though Sadie isn't impressed by Jax's fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax but he fights his attraction. Relationship's never work in his world and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. By the end of the summer, Jax discovers he can't breathe without Sadie.

*Note: Breathe is being released in print on October 13*

4) Please share about your latest or upcoming projects.

The Vincent Boys blurb: Being the good girl isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Ashton Gray has grown weary of playing the part to please her parents, and to be worthy of the town’s prince charming, Sawyer Vincent. Maybe That’s why she’s found herself spending time with Sawyer’s cousin, Beau, while he’s away for the summer camping with his family. Beau is nothing like her perfect boyfriend. He’s the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, dangerous in ways she’s only day dreamed about, and the one guy she should stay away from.

Beau never envied Sawyer his loving parents, his big nice home, or his position as quarterback. He loves him like a brother. Which is why he's tried everything in his power to keep his distance from Sawyer’s girlfriend. Even if he has loved her since the age of five, Ashton is Sawyer’s girl, so therefore she’s off limits. But when Sawyer leaves for the summer, Ashton, the one girl Beau would move Heaven and Earth for, decides she wants to get into trouble. Stabbing the one person who’s always accepted him and stood by him in the back, is the cost of finally holding Ashton Gray in his arms. Is she worth losing his cousin over?.... Hell Yeah.

*Look for The Vincent Boys on Amazon and Barnes and Noble Oct 21*

Existence blurb: What happens when you are stalked by Death? You fall in

love with him, of course. Pagan Moore doesn’t cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him.

Seventeen year old, Pagan Moore, has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized  the strangers, she often saw walking through walls, were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn’t let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she steps out of her car, the first day of school and sees an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face. Problem is she knows he's dead.  Not only does he not go away, when she ignores him, but he does something none of the others have ever done, he speaks.   Pagan is fascinated by the soul. What Pagan doesn’t realize is that her appointed time to die is drawing near and the wickedly beautiful soul, she is falling in love with, is not a soul. He is Death and he’s about to break all the rules.

* Look for Existence this Christmas on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Wild Child Publishing and other online retailers*

~ I reached for my phone for at least the tenth time to call and cancel when Ashton’s Jetta spun into the gravel drive outside.

Great.

I’d successfully fought off my good intentions just long enough for her to get here. This was bad. Hurting people isn’t something I have issues with, but hurting Sawyer? That’s out of the question.

Ashton stepped out of her car wearing another short dress and carrying a plate of food. Watching the sway of her hips as she made her way toward me, the corners of her mouth turned up in a shy little smile, I decided I didn't care if I was being a dirtbag. Sawyer wasn’t here and I couldn’t seem to help myself.  My cousin should have stayed his ass home.~
