YA Indie Carnival: YA Indie Authors Worth Checking Out

YA Indie Carnival: YA Indie Authors Worth Checking Out

The other day one of my favorite former students said that she wanted to find new material to read. I got the feeling that she was a little burned out with the "same old" books. It's wonderful to be able to share a few suggestions that are on my shelf to read. Indies are a great way to try something different for a great price. It's so wonderful to support other Indie authors. Let me know what you think of my suggestions.

Winnemucca by Laura Elliott

Winnemucca is a young-adult coming-of-age, paranormal novel about a teenage girl’s enchanted road trip to her true self no matter who or what tries to stop her. One mistake will change Ginny’s life forever.

One answer will set her free.Once upon a time Ginny’s road blood ripened, the day she got wise to love. Engaged to the high school quarterback, his quarter-carat ring and enchanting smile should have been enough for her. But, she stands him up and takes a walk where every step questions her happily ever after gone-bad and the fate of the mother she never knew. The mother her father refuses to talk about. Ginny fights to untangle her big, fat, lie-of-a-life on an enchanted road trip to Winnemucca, where she believes all her answers lie. She must solve the riddle of her past and outrun everyone who wants a piece of her future, including a man determined to see she never has one. When fear’s as blind as love, how far would you go to find the flesh-and-blood reality of your own happily ever after?

You can read an excerpt of the novel on Laura's page.

Demon Girl (Rae Wilder Novel) by Penelope Fletcher

Rae Wilder has problems. Supernatural creatures swarm the earth, and humanity is on the brink of extinction. Stalked by a handsome fairy who claims she is like him, demonkind, Rae thinks maybe it was a mistake breaking the rules by going over the Wall into demon territory. Plunged into a world of dark magics, fierce creatures, and ritual sacrifice, she is charged with a guarding a magical amulet. The changes to her mind and body are startling, but rather than accept her purpose she struggles against who she is destined to be. Throw in a big lust for a vampire who can't keep his hands off her, and life starts to get complicated. Rae is forced to make the ultimate choice: to live and die human, or embrace her birth-right and wield magics that could turn her into something wicked, a force of nature nothing can control.

You can find both YA and Adult novels on Penelope's page. I was also able to download this book on the kindle for FREE. How exciting!
