Alicia McCalla's Office Wall Is Blank So She Can Put Up her Canvas Prints

Empowering My Office Space: A Journey to Prioritizing Self-Care and Creativity

As a busy Black woman and creative entrepreneur, I've always struggled with putting myself and my own needs first. For the past year, I've wanted to transform my office space into a more empowering and inspiring environment, but like many women, I kept putting it off, prioritizing everything and everyone else above my own desires. [YOUTUBE Affirmation]

Last year, I created the Canvas Print Collection featuring characters who remind me of powerful and inspiring Black female superheroes. I even ordered samples of these prints, intending to hang them on my walls and create a space that would fuel my creativity and motivation. However, as life got busy and responsibilities piled up, I never got around to actually taking care of this project or, more importantly, taking care of myself.

Isn't that how life often goes? As women, we tend to put the needs of others before our own, leaving our personal goals and aspirations on the back burner. But recently, I decided to break this cycle and start prioritizing my own well-being and growth.

Transforming My Office Space

Over the next few weeks, I'm committed to making my office space a true reflection of my values and aspirations. Each week, I plan to highlight and hang one of my inspirational canvas prints on my wall. I'll admit, I'm a little embarrassed that it's taken me this long to take action, and I still need to order the Command strips to hang these prints (note to self: add that to the to-do list!). But I'm determined to push past my discomfort and share this journey with all of you.

The "Bold" BADASS WARRIOR WOMAN Canvas Print

As I embark on this journey of empowering my office space and prioritizing self-care, I've decided to focus on one special piece from my Canvas Print Collection each week. This week, the spotlight is on the "Bold" BADASS WARRIOR WOMAN canvas print, a striking artwork that resonates deeply with my own experiences and aspirations.

When I first laid eyes on this powerful image of an armor-clad warrior goddess, I was immediately drawn to her striking gaze and the aura of boldness and determination she exudes. Dressed in brilliant gold, brown, and burgundy armor, she stands poised for battle against a vibrant kente cloth background. Inspired by Nubia, Wonder Woman's twin sister, this modern-day warrior represents the valor and resilience of Black women everywhere.

Daily Affirmations

The affirmations that accompany this artwork speak directly to my soul. I've incorporated empowerment words into an affirmation statement that encapsulates the essence of the "Bold" BADASS WARRIOR WOMAN:

"I am bold, heroic, daring, badass, fearless, dauntless, audacious, and courageous."

Reading these words will become a powerful ritual, helping me to start my day with a sense of purpose and determination. By surrounding myself with this inspiring imagery and empowering messages, I am creating a workspace that fuels my creativity, boosts my confidence, and reminds me of my own inner warrior.

Your Office Space

So, I want to know: What does your office space look like? Does it inspire you and fuel your creativity? If not, what small steps can you take to start creating an environment that uplifts and empowers you?
